I had the day off, so Alex and I took advantage and headed up to Hunsky for the day. Alex's car was in the shop so he had to find a way to get to Ramapo. He ended up borrowing one of his roommates extra cars. It was a sentra and it was a real piece of shit. It had no exhaust and sounded like shit. Alex drove it up Tuesday night and slept here. I tried to get Alex to buy me gas since his parents pay for it anyway, but he wouldn't oblige. Eventually, he threw me 5 bucks. It was beautiful out by the time we got there and it was empty. I tried to get a free lift ticket with the shop pass, but it was last years pass and the guy was a jerk. It didn't matter because we pulled a theft of services for the day. Nobody was checking tickets, obvious. We took a few runs down Hellgate since it was mushed up so early in the day and there were tons of snow ledges and jersey booters lining the trail. The grab of the day was the nose grab and to get our adrenaline flowing, we bombed down the bottom of hellgate into the park. It was sketchy, but so funny to hear your jacket flapping in the wind. My favorite trick is going fast, but I like to go fast when its freshly groomed. When it is soft spring snow, things get a little bit sketchier. Anyway, the park stunk. The pipe wasn't very rideable, minus a few frontside hits. The jumps were decent, but had mogul field landings. The fruit by the foot box was sitting a little bit crooked, but was fun to slide. It was set up street style, surprisingly. A few runs into the day we figured the belt had softened up so we went to check it out. It wasn't quite soft enough, so we took a run down east side drive. This run wasn't as fun as it usually was, although the biggest jersey booter of all time was at the bottom waiting. Some skiers started chatting with us at the top, showing their anger due the fact that the west side was closed. Alex played along with the guys and called Orville a cocksucker. This wouldn't have been bad, but Alex repeated the same line 2, maybe 3 more times. I think the guy knew we didn't care and were fucking with him. I bet that guy was psyched later on in the day, because they did end up opening the west side. I was shocked. A few belt runs and a bunch of hellgate ones and we decided to head on out. We left a bit early, but it ended up working out in my favor. We stopped at Donnies, and like a little child, Alex begged me to eat outside with him. I refused, arguing that I did not want to walk back in for my free refills. He obliged after he saw that I wasn't budging on my stance. Really fun day, for sure.

Keith wrote this...

Ok this is the official last day at creek. After some warm temps coming through I don't think there is a shot they will be open for April 1st, unless it was an April Fool's Joke. Momma dukes bought like 40 burgers and 20 hotdogs for today, so I was psyched on that. Alex and Ryan came to my house and Alex says "Do you want to forget the grill, lets just ride?" I was so shocked that he said this so I had to consult with Ryan. Ryan was feeling the same way and I'm like WTF?? After so tug-o-war, we decided to bring it. We loaded up the Protege', stopped at the liquor store to pick up some beer then headed up. I chirped Chris on the Nextel and he met up with us with Brian in the sandhill lot. We packed up our bags and the grill and headed up. We got to the flat box with about prob 10-15 kids hiking it. Alex brought the megaphone which was a key ingredient to the festivities. I was all about the megaphone. I spent most of my time harrassing people on it rather than boarding. Alex had warned me about a couple times that the megaphone was to be used strictly for good not evil. But I couldn't help it. Eventually I got too out of hand ripping on people so I was put on a 10 minute time out. Lame!!! This gave me the oppurtunity to fire up the grill. We got it going and threw burgers on. By this time we had a fucking block party happening. Clearly our 40's were not enough so Chris says he will go get the rest of the 30 pack from yesterday and bring it up score!!! I eventually got back on the megaphone and judged a jam that we gave no prizes for now that I think about it, but kids were still throwing down like they didn't give a fuck. Kate, Lauren, and Staci from Suffern came up too. At one point I saw Kate peeing in the woods cause I told her to. Haha! Eventually we all getting tired and drunk and decided to pack it in. What a sweet day. Good way to end the season with drink and eating festival. I already can't wait for next year because we met some new people towards the end of the season and next year our crew should be soo sick.

And now Keith will tell us about Saturday...

I got up at 11 and no calls from the boys. I called Ryan and Alex and they said they were on their way up picking up some stuff. GAME ON!! They came over and packed up the grill in Wonda and we took off. We had to buy burgers and dogs since we couldn't get in touch with Kendall or Pete to see if they bought anything. Well we parked and we saw this chevy truck lifted to the fucking sky!!! Kendall was in it. It was his truck, that thing was bad ass. You could def run over a compact car with it. I asked him to run over a car, but he said no. Him, Pete, and this kid Russ literally jumped out of the truck. They had this sweet boombox with an ipod hooked to it blasting beats. We heard the line for the triple was ginormous so we made a plan to ride up sugar, then hike the rest of the way. It wasn't that bad actually. We got up there and set up immediately. People were digging the beats and the 1st Annual Boarding For Burgers got underway. We ate some delicious meat and then conducted a 10 minute jam, best trick for an elephant scab. Some kid threw 270 hardway, 270 spin, tic tac manuever, backside 180 indy off. That def got my vote and the congregation concurred. At one point, I took Alex's board and mine and put a chair on and started the the lawnchair movement. It was so sketch but def fun in my mind. That didn't last for too long. We seshed the box a little box little more then packed it up. As we were leaving Pete, as weird as he is, found these two little chinese kids playing out by the stink tens while their parents took pics. Pete goes up to the parents and asks "how much for the little one?" I couldn't believe what i was hearing. He continued to barter with the parents to buy their kids!!! He eventually made a deal for $3000 to buy both so he they wouldn't split up, but the parents said no. Man Pete you are weird dude, but sooo hilarious. We unloaded our gear at the cars. Somehow, we got the idea to break some bottles on rocks. This was probably the best part of the day, breaking bottles. What is the purpose of breaking bottles?? After doing that for close to about 15 mins we broke it up and return to civilization. Hopefully I'll see those point boys again, they are too fun.

This is Keith's rendition of Saturday.

So I didn’t get to sleep till about 1am, we were shooting to wake up at 5am since Gerry and I were dummies and forgot to pre-register for the event, which meant beating the crowds. The alarm blasted at 5 and quickly hit the snooze; this move could have meant life or death. I knew better since I really wanted to do this contest, so I got up and got my stuff together and Gerry followed suit. We were out the door by 5:40. We got there around 6 and I saw a lone body sitting by the door. It was Adam V. that nut! He said he got there at 5:30. Kraig and Laura from Snow Sports School came down and they said they got their bakery tickets from Chrissy already so we found her to get ours. It was just us chillin till the crowd started showing up. By 7:30 the line was reaching the parking lot! This made me feel smart for coming early, cause clearly all these blokes were not getting in. It was gonna be fun because it was me, Gerry, Peyton, Matt, and Adam all in the same heat.. As we were waiting in line I introduced everyone to Sussex County’s Fabulous, this local rap group. Everyone loved the lyrics. Laura dubbed me the hype man for the day. If you don’t know a hype man is the dude that has a mic and stands behind a rapper and when he says a key word, he yells “Yeah!” or “Uh!” or some shit like that to hype up the song. As we left registration we had extra food so Gerry and I tossed them into the crowd. Fucking Jersey kids will kill for product toss even if it’s for Pacific Coolers and cosmic brownies. We got our boots on and saw Joe Pro and Burke as we made our way to the gondola. We also spotted AJ and soon the Pt. Pleasant Beach kids “White Snake” Pete and Kendall. Those dudes are soooo chill to ride with with and funny as shit to boot. It felt like a jeans kind of day cause everyone was wearing them. Gerry and I got into the course to warm up; the course was 3 rails side by side and the format stated that you had to hit every feature to get a score; it was the small battleship, 40ft handrail, and slantbox. I hadn’t hit the 40ft handy all season so this would be a treat. I hit it twice during practice and I didn’t get it all the way and I was only trying to press a frontside 5-0. Lame. Well our heat a eventually came and Gerry and out worked out a strategy. Hit a feature twice, the move on, then random hits. Since it was only 20-minute heats you had to haul ass up the hill again. Kendall and Pete were right there feeding us soda and cookies to keep us going. Props to those guys. Gerry was doing well I guess, I was too, but my lame stock tricks were def not getting in the finals. EBS Ryan was floating around too with his silly one piece suit. At the same time as the jam a pond skimming contest was going on. People were going nuts, jumping sleds, hucking bodies and such into 40-degree water. One dude was soo wasted he fell into the pipe as he dropped in for the pond skim. When it was all said and done, loads of peeps got into finals in their respective heats; Matt, Ash, Gerry, Bettina, Tanya, Laura, those cats made it. They were selling raffles tickets to raise money for Mike Ryan who got broke off up north, so I figured it was a good cause to so Gerry and I bought some. At the awards, Tanya comes up to me and says, “I think I won girls” she said she one footed the battleship box. This girl is a nut. Jen, Tanya, Me, Matt, and Gerry all sat on the battleship and awaited results. Well Tanya won girls, Matt won Open, and then they were going to do the raffle. I had my ticket ready. The said it was for an ’07 Volcom Jacket and a K2 Snowboard. After he read the numbers I realized I won!! How sick??!!! I got the jacket, but Charlie the K2 rep said he didn’t have a board there so I could just pick it up at his house. He lives in the next town over so its like 5 minutes from me. We went back to the car to ditch the goods and stuff and went to ride. I heard someone call my name in line and it was Lauren!!! Score! She said she was going to be riding so it was good she found me. She was with her friends Kate and Staci. I wonder if her mom has got it going on? So Gerry, Ryan, Lauren, Kate, Staci, Kendall, Pete and I all rode the park that was turning into a minefield with bumps and caverns. We snagged some sweet pics thanks to Gerry. There was these hoochies snowboarding with short ass shorts on and everyone was giving them soo much shit and throwing snowballs at them cause they were such sluts. Who snowboards in short shorts? Oh I know. SLUTS!!! Eventually the local girls were about to fight them and it was about to turn into a brawl, but those sluts knew their place and got out of there. We took a few more runs with the girls and eventually we peaced it. Ryan, Gerry, and I got some 5-5-5 and went back to my house. We ate pizza and had an intellectual, yet stimulating conversation about snowboarding. This made me feel smart. Well we hung out, Gerry passed out, then I passed out. Great day! I love you snowboarding, will you marry me?

I didn't get to go snowboarding last weekend due to exams and work, so I was pretty psyched to have the day off. I had a dream that I overslept and it was 2 o'clock by the time I woke up. I got really bummed that I missed what might be the last good midweek day of the season. The temperatures are rising these days, so the snow won't stay around too much longer, especially if it rains. Anyway, I didn't actually oversleep. Dan called me and I asked if I could get a ride up with him since my car's brakes are kind of ginding metal. He said he had to do some errands or something and would be there in half an hour so I went with Ian to the pay cafe and got breakfast. This day happened to be Ian's birthday. He turned 21 and was having a celebration later that night. We got there and waited by the gondola while Dan's friend got his lift ticket. We ran into Devon, Alex, AJ, and Keith while we waited. We all headed up together. It was a beautiful day with the sun shining down, so I was in a good mood. The park was fun and having a detuned board is way better than having edges. After an hour or two Alex and I got numerous phone calls from a kid named Eric Spence. He used to go to my school and we were pretty much best friends, but he transferred to North Carolina because he is gay. Anyway, it was good to see him. He brought along his brother, who is a really cool dude as well, despite the fact that he was on ski blades. Eric didn't want to choke up the 5 dollars for a park pass, so we took a run or two through the mini park, which didn't bother me at all. Later on Alex realized he had 2 extra park passes in his jacket pocket, what a jerk... trying to make the Spences buy park passes for no reason, haha. We laughed about it and headed over to the big boy park. Around 4 o'clock some of us started getting hungry, but Eric didn't want to leave so soon so him and Alex took "one more run". Somehow neither of them ended up getting hurt though, so that's good. I wanted to ride down the snowtubing chutes, but nobody wanted to hop the fence with me, so I went alone. It was worth it, I guess. When we got to the car Dan realized something. He didn't have his keys. He usually keeps them inside his wallet, which he left under his car seat. He called triple A and I walked over to Eric's car and hung out with him and his brother and ate all of their food. We listened to the Cityscapes ep together and it was cute. I like it a lot actually. I liked it so much Andrew gave me a copy, score. Those dudes had a long drive ahead of them so they didn't join us for food. While we were waiting, everybody else was already at Little Anthony's enjoying their meal. Nobody came back to get us, but it was no big deal. The guy showed up, popped the lock open, asked for a tip, and then shot the shit with us for a little bit. We went to the pizza place, everybody was already gone, but it was cool.

I woke up kinda pissed because my classes weren't canceled. There wasn't much snow on the ground, but I thought it would be enough. It was coming down pretty alright on my way to business to business marketing. After market research I was even more bummed because it had stopped snowing. Lucky for me, school would be closed as of 2pm. That meant that my other two classes would be canceled. I seized the opportunity to ride my new snowboard and get to snowboard with Gerry and Chelsea. They're only in town for a few days and I'm working the other days they're here, so I met up with them. The drive up wasn't too bad until I started sliding a bit on 515. I made it there in one piece. On the drive up I saw a flash of lightening, which I thought was a bit odd. Then when I pulled into the granite lot I saw a mob of kids standing around and I thought that was even more odd. I asked a lady what was going on because I noticed the chairlift was not running, yet people were still coming down doe run. She said the lifts were stopped for half an hour due to the lightening. I didn't feel like waiting, so I drove to the triple chair lot for some reason. I guess I thought the walk up the triple trail would be shorter than walking through the muddy parking lot and over the bridge. Distance wise, it was probably shorter, but walking uphill in the snow was pretty exhausting. I made it there and waited for the Saugerties kids by the gondola. They had gone up the sugar lift for some unknown reason. I waited pretty long, but they showed up eventually. It was nice to see them. They brought along like 6 other kids from Saugerties, so it was quite a large group. We took runs through the park and sometimes the mini park. I was having fun on my new snowboard and so was Chelsea and Keith. Chelsea just got a new academy, and Keith was riding his new signal. We are so core, lol. Anyway, it was snowing steadily all day and the roads were shitty so I hung around later than I usually would. I took a few runs with Adam which I don't ever get the chance to do since he is always working. It was fun but the rails were kind of shot and it was getting dark, so we both left. The drive home honked. I don't think I went more than 20 miles an hour on route 23. I got stuck behind a fleet of snow plows clearing the road. I made it back though, so all in all, a fun day. Chelsea took a bunch of pictures, so I'll put those up once she gets home and sends them to me.

Dan and I got out of the tradeshow Tuesday night around 7. After a little debating about whether we should go to Blue or Bear Creek, we finally decided on Blue. I didn't realize that the mountain closed at 10, so I didn't think we would have much time to actually snowboard, but we did. Riding a new mountain is always fun, and strange. We parked at the top of the mountain, so that was pretty wild, for one. The ladies at the top had no idea about the free tickets we were supposed to get, so we just snuck past the ticket checkers and rode to the bottom. When we got down there, everybody else was already there getting tickets: Tony and Granger from Volcom, Jimmy from Salomon, Mike from K2, Pat from Nitro, and Mike from Forum. That's all that I can remember for now. Whatever, there were a bunch of us. We got our tickets and headed up. We went over to the park and I was surprised to see how many features they had set up. I don't remember the exact setup, but there were tons of fun boxes and then lots of skethcy things that just did not belong. After you rode through the big park, there was a boardercross trail with sweet banked turns and shit which led you into the other park at the bottom. Racing through there was pretty rad, except for the occasional ice patch. The park at the bottom was super fun. There was a table with 2 takeoffs, then a tiny table, into a mailbox, to a battleship box, to a flat box to a flat down box to wallride. I think that was everything in that park. I was really excited to see a mailbox in the park. It was on a pyramid which was rock hard, but that thing slid so good. The last time I jibbed a mailbox I was just learning to hit rails, so it was definitely so much fun. I hope they make a comeback or something. It seemed like everybody was in a race to get to the lift to go back up. We must have taken about 12 runs in the short time we were there. We took the same run everytime since it was so much fun. There was this gnarly jump whose takeoff must have been 15 feet tall. It looked so out of place. I wanted to see somebody hit it, but nobody was stupid enough to. I usually don't like night riding, but this was one of the best times I've had snowboarding in a long time. Riding a new place with new people is lots of fun. To top the night off, we stopped at Sheetz on the way back to the hotel. Fucking Sheetz. I love that place so much, so I was pretty much in heaven. I hyped it up quite a bit when I saw it on the way to the mountain, so I hope I didn't ruin it for Dan. After that, we got changed, then went over to the Holiday Inn and hung out at the bar. What a night.

I hit snooze like 15 times this morning, no joke. I called Alex to see if he had left already, because if he hadn't, I was probably not going to go. He met me here and waited for me to get dressed and shit. We didn't leave until around 10 and once we got there we sat in the car for about half an hour like old times. It was super cold out and the snow guns were blasting snow so we were in no rush to get on the hill. Alex remembered that he forgot his pass again, so he was going to have to go into super sneeky ninja mode to get past the lifties all day. Libby called me and said that Dugan was with her and that news made me and Alex really stoked. Dan goes to school kind of far away now so we never get to snowboard with him anymore. This was the first time I've seen him since the summer, so it was a treat. Unfortunately for him, he picked a pretty bad day to come home because conditions weren't very prime. It was probably one of the iciest days of the year and not so rad. We did some boarding and then the three of us went to Burger King for lunch. Man, what a prime location that Burger King has...

Today was pretty whack. I woke up really early and got there before everybody else once again. It was like a repeat of last Friday, the gondola was closed because it was windy, so just the triple was running. I didnt even waste my time trying to park at granite this time, I just parked in the lower lot and crossed the street. The park wasn't open yet when I got to the top so I took a run through the mini park and sugar park. It was pretty icy and really windy, which made it feel really cold. I wasn't too stoked on it. I said what up to Junior at the Burton tents and took another run before meeting up with Alex, Bellow, and Rick. Alex forgot his park pass again, as well as his season pass. He was forced to buy another park pass, bringing the total to 3 so far. We took a run through the park and then met Keith at the triple. Keith had his camera stuff and wanted to hike something and film it. Hiking was better than sitting on that damn chairlift, plus Bellow and Alex both forgot their season passes so it was better off. We started hiking the downbox at the top, but that got boring pretty fast so we moved down to the wide box on Kyber. We must have hiked it for a few hours. Rick left early on, like he always does. Dan showed up, and so did Dean, Brad, and Bryan. Dean was really stoked on his new snowboard, a Nitro T1. He had broken his old board last week on the makeshift hip. I was bored of the flat box so I walked up to Independence by myself. I hiked it a bunch of times and was really into it. I was trying to lipslide 270 out of it but wasn't really happy with landing 250 and sliding it around the rest. I bet I could have gotten it on the WWW, which is back now. I saw the others walking up towards Independence so having company was definitely nice. We migrated down to the tall box and hiked that for a bit. Alex was really hungry so he convinced us all to get food. First, we went to Little Anthony's, but when we got inside there were about 6 families in there eating. We didn't really feel like eating with a bunch of screaming kids, so we went to Burger King. Inside BK, Alex or somebody suggested that we get Chinese food instead. Keith said he knew this buffet place down the road from his house, so off we went. It ended up being the best decision ever. The place was pretty much incredible, except for some creepy guy asking about the soosh. We went back to Keiths and bickered about whether or not we should continue snowboarding. We ended up just hanging out in the parking lot waiting for Gallo so that I could get my board back and him and Alex could trade pants.
